Zen Open Circle Purpose and Guidelines

Guidelines

Ethically we are guided by the Four Great Vows of the Bodhisattva (to save the many beings; to abandon greed, hatred and ignorance; to wake to reality; and to walk in the light of awakening) and the sixteen Buddhist Precepts that flesh these over-arching vows out in more detail. You can find these on Zen Open Circle Sutras and Readings.

The Zen Open Circle Advisory Council is beginning work on evolving a  clear set of ZOC Ethics and Grievances guidelines.

In addition, our teacher is bound by the undertakings of the 1999  Diamond Sangha Teachers' Ethics Agreement, which bears strongly on  personal accountability, financial probity and care with boundaries, to  avoid unethical conflicts of interest.
