Welcome to the Big Summer Sit
Welcome to the Big Summer Sit. We are launching the formal period of the Big Summer Sit this coming Sunday, January 4th at 4 pm. This is not to deter you from practicing right now, exactly where you are, however, this Sunday we will begin our pledged practice period with the basics of zazen. If we think we know all about it, let's try sitting and counting breath from one to ten, without a single distracting thought... ahhh, not so easy... So beginner, or well-practiced, this is an opportunity to sit together with others, encouraging each other, supporting each other, sharing with each other. Together, over the summer (in Australia) we will explore the gift that is our Zen practice; how and why we establish a practice, and how that practice comes to us in each moment, established over many centuries of enlightened men and women who practiced before and with us.
From Monday, Jan 5th, we have the opportunity to sit with others every morning between 6 and 7 am in our Summer dojo. Establishing a practice is a gift we give ourselves and each other. From this all things flow. ()()() Deborah

Hi Deborah (and everyone) Not sure if I am doing this right, but here goes... I really enjoyed this afternoon's practice and discussion. I wasn't sure if I would, but I actually very much enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with the group. The only glitch was my internet dropping out about 10 minutes before the end (which, perhaps mercifully, relieved me of any obligation I felt to join the discussion with my own contribution). Next time :) For the record, my second sit was particularly foussed and peaceful. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity and I look forward to meeting again in a couple of weeks. Gassho, Peter
