About

This Valentine's Day turn your love toward the earth. Come along to this book launch to hear Susan Murphy on this topic and to participate in a dialogue that will deepen in your engagement with the ecological crisis, exploring the koans that can upturn your thinking and open your heart even to the fiery questions of our time.

Susan Murphy is an author also of Upside-Down ZenMinding the Earth, Mending the World, and Red Thread Zen. Since 1999, Susan has been teaching and leading Zen retreats in Victoria (Melbourne Zen Group), Tasmania (Mountains and Rivers Zen, Hobart) and New South Wales (Zen Open Circle), and is a widely recognised national and international Zen voice whose work has placed special emphasis upon unearthing the ecological heart of Dharma, and the potent resonance of Zen mind with indigenous sense of Country.

“A powerful and important plunge into the reality of the mind and climate.”—Joan Halifax, author of Being with Dying and Standing at the Edge

“Today we need new koans, and fresh perspectives on traditional koans, to help us understand and ‘respond appropriately’ to the ecological crisis. Susan Murphy is responding to that challenge better than anyone else I know of.”—David Loy, author of Ecodharma and A New Buddhist Path

This event is hosted by Melbourne Zen Group and Psychology for a Safe Climate.
