The Big Summer Sit 2024

Public·49 Bodhisattvas

Have you noticed yet how important it is to the depth of your sitting practice to NOT get straight up from your daily zazen? This is how it works for me: The time I've roughly agreed to end the sit hazily arrives, and from the deepened, quietened state of mind I bow and perhaps strike the bell to let it know what's what.

But then I have no inclination to move. Rather, the sit is still flowing through, now in a slightly more reflective state, noticing and lingering in that flow, and also sometimes finding an unexpected new insight arrive just as it will, in its own good time. I'm also tasting that deeply satisfying state that simply feels so softly good-- body and mind ripened into a singular presence. Sometimes, i find I just naturally let that slip back into a timelessly into meditation; other times, it is just to be fully savoured, like slowly waking up.

What if it actually IS "slowly waking up", people? 😊

like a deep quenching of a thirst I didn't know i had..
