About
Join us for our Second Day of Practice in 2024.
Our focus this time will be Shantideva's Way of the Bodhisattva. What is a bodhisattva? How can we embody the Way of the bodhisattva? And how might we use those many hands and eyes to attend to the joys and sufferings of the world?
Shantideva gives full voice to our secret longing for healing in the world. Given how crumpled, torn and discarded life can feel right now, there is no better moment (indeed, there is no other moment!) to embrace this sutra's radical energy and compassion.
Let's follow the Way of the Bodhisattva and discover what a timeless, dedicated, wholehearted day of practice can bring to life.

Kynan
SHANTIDEVA’S WAY OF THE BODHISATTVA Shantideva (685-783)Â
I rejoice in the virtue of all beings!Â
To help attain the Way, I offer what I have.Â
May the pain of every living creature be completely cleared away. Â
May I support the life of boundless untold beings!
Just as does the earth. Enduring as space itself,Â
May I be a bridge, a boat, a ship, for all to cross the water!
May I become a doctor, nurse, and medicine for sick beings in the world.
May food and drink descend, ending thirst and hunger.Â
May I be the nourishment they need, until everyone is healed! Â
May I provide for the lost and destitute –Â
Everything they need, through the night to guide them.Â
May this very life I’ve received liberate the world! Â
May even acts of harm, help the violent awaken.
May they all come to know, each and every joy.Â
Until free from pain, may I be life for all beings, throughout the ends of space! Â
Everything I’ve gained, I joyfully surrender!
Every step I take, I’m moving with the world.Â
May we all come to know the promise of this life! Â
Just as all Buddhas embraced the awakened mind,Â
Just as they embodied Bodhisattva practices,Â
For the sake of all, I do adopt the spirit of enlightenment, Â
and will follow the Way of the Bodhisattva.

A Word about Dana
Dana keeps the Dharma alive. In accordance with the 2,500-year-old Buddhist tradition of Dana (‘self-donation’), Â
Dana, as pure giving, is non-compulsory and has no prescribed rate, but thrives in the spirit of gratitude and generosity. Offering and receiving are freed to complete each other, as one enlarging move of the heart.Â
